Blake Griffin remembers Norm Macdonald crashing one of his press conferences

It seems that anyone who crossed paths with comedic giant Norm Macdonald has a funny, sweet story to share.

Add Blake Griffin to the list.

"He had a show on Comedy Central my rookie year, so I did a part of his show, and then I went to go see him do stand-up several times," the Brooklyn Nets forward said during Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday night. "He came to my charity event one year. Funniest guy ever."

The memory that stands out the most is when Macdonald crashed Griffin's Rookie of the Year press conference and landed the perfect joke: "I was wondering, there's kind of a curse with Rookie of the Year. Nobody's ever repeated it."

"He was great, man," the 32-year-old six-time All-Star told Meyers after the clip aired. "When I met him, I was, like, so excited to meet him. He does the thing where he starts talking, and you're like, 'Where are we going with this?' And then he always finds it somehow. He always finds it. Seeing that in person was incredible for me."

Macdonald died Sept. 14 after battling cancer extremely privately over the last nine years. He was 61 years old.
