Bulls concerned about PG Lonzo Ball's surgically repaired knee
The Chicago Bulls are seriously concerned about Lonzo Ball's surgically repaired left knee, according to David Kaplan of ESPN Chicago 10:00 AM.
Kaplan reports that Ball's knee is not improving, and he is still feeling pain when he "tries to ramp it up."
Ball had surgery in January to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. After surgery, the expected recovery time had the point guard returning to the court within six to eight weeks. However, the 24-year-old has faced multiple setbacks during his rehab. Most recently, Ball said his recovery was "at a standstill," and the possibility of another surgery during the offseason is not out off the table.
The former No. 2 overall pick played in only 35 games last season for the Bulls, a career-low. In his first season with Chicago, Ball averaged 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.
The Bulls acquired Ball from the New Orleans Pelicans in a sign-and-trade deal for Tomáš Satoranský, Garrett Temple, and draft picks ahead of the 2021-2022 season.
Ball still has three years remaining on a four-year, $80 million contract signed last August. He's scheduled to make $19.5 million in 2022-2023.
