Bulls have two games postponed amid COVID outbreak

The NBA postponed the Chicago Bulls' next two games this week due to several players entering the COVID-19 health and safety protocol over the last few days.

It was reported earlier Monday that forward Alize Johnson submitted a positive test, making him the 10th player added to the protocol.

Teammates Coby White and Javonte Green practiced at the team's facility on Sunday for the first time since being placed in the protocol and could have potentially been available for Tuesday's since-delayed game against the Pistons.

Per NBA guidelines, a team must have eight active players suited up for a game. Chicago was teetering on the edge of that mark.

The Bulls are the first team to have games postponed this season because of COVID-19. According to NBC Chicago, the team is fully vaccinated, and most of the players have received their booster shots.

"Maybe some of it's because of the vaccination, we've got a lot of guys sitting at home with no symptoms right now," Bulls coach Billy Donovan said Saturday, via ESPN, as more players were added to the list. "That's obviously a good thing, too, because I think when guys have gone through a real difficulty of getting really, really sick, it's really made it a lot harder for them coming back."

The Bulls' next scheduled game is Sunday at home against the Los Angeles Lakers.
