On March 3, the Cleveland Cavaliers signed Sam Merrill to a 10-day contract after spending time with the Cleveland Charge in the NBA G League.

After his 10-day deal ended on Monday, the Cavaliers announced on Tuesday that they have signed Merrill to a multi-year contract.

Merrill, 26, was the 60th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans and he began his career with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Playing in 30 games during his rookie season, Merrill averaged 3.0 points and 1.0 rebounds per game, finishing his first season with a championship in Milwaukee.

This season with the Charge in the G League, Sam Merrill has played in a total of 35 games, averaging 16.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

Known throughout his collegiate career as a three-point shooting threat, Merrill has looked to make this same impact at the NBA level. For his career, Merrill has shot 28-71 from three-point range, about 39.4 percent.

While the terms of Sam Merrill's contract were not released, it is expected that his deal has some partially-guaranteed or non-guaranteed stipulations in it heading into next season.

Currently 43-27 on the season, the Cleveland Cavaliers find themselves in the 4-seed spot in the Eastern Conference with 12 games remaining on their schedule. With seven more wins, Cleveland will record their first 50-win season since the 2017-18 season.

That year, they advanced all the way to the NBA Finals.

The Cavaliers will be back in action on Tuesday night when they take on the Charlotte Hornets
