Miami Heat fans wanted all the smoke AKA the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Unfortunately for Miami supporters, their team got absolutely smoked by Jayson Tatum and company in just five games. Not only are Heat fans enduring the pain from seeing Miami get demolished in the first round, but they also have to deal with the mockery they’re getting online from Celtics fans who are having a field day poking fun at them for the “We Want Boston” chant back in the Play-in Tournament.
As a refresher, it can be recalled that Heat fans thumped their chests and declared their desire to see Miami face off against the top team in the Eastern Conference during the knockout Play-in Tournament matchup versus the Chicago Bulls.

It’s a great night out there on social media for Celtics fans at the expense of the Heat.
“The thing that made no sense about this chant, they didn’t have a choice in the matter. If they were saying this in their first game, against Philly, and lost that, then maybe they could claim it, but once they did that it’s not like Boston was avoidable,” posted @Mouthzola on X (formerly Twitter).

Boston was simply too much for the Heat
The Heat didn’t stand much of a chance versus the stacked Celtics squad. Miami wasn’t just the eighth seed entering the series against Boston but it also played the entire first round without the services of two important cogs. Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier never saw a single second of action against Boston, leaving the Heat to rely on Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro heavily and asking more from Jaime Jaquez Jr., Caleb Martin, and Nikola Jovic while the Celtics, were able to parade the duo of Jaylen Brown and Tatum and get ample production from Derrick White along the way.
Miami managed to steal a win in Game 2 but the momentum they got from that stunning upset was immediately squashed by Boston just three days later. Over the last three games of the series, the Heat lost to Boston by an average of 22.7 points. In what turned out to be this matchup’s finale on Wednesday at TD Garden, the Celtics crushed Miami to the tune of a 118-84 defeat. The Celtics zoomed to an 18-point lead at the end of the first quarter and spent the rest of the game piling on a seemingly demoralized and deflated Heat side.
Adebayo paced the Heat with 23 points in Game 5, while Herro recorded 16 points. Miami fizzled offensively in its last stand, connecting on just 41.4 percent of their attempts from the field, and was a woeful 3/29 from behind the arc. The Heat simply had no business sharing the floor with the Celtics, especially with the poor state of their roster.
Now that they have finally gotten rid of the Heat, the Celtics will get some rest and prepare for the second round where they will meet the winner of the other series between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Orlando Magic.
