The Denver Nuggets are trying to get that winning feeling anew as they prepare for their title defense in this year’s NBA playoffs, and Nikola Jokic explained to the media how he hopes to see himself and the team come June when it’s all said and done.

According to the two-time NBA MVP , he said that the Denver Nuggets are keen to repeat because he wants to relive those fun times they had in Sin City.

“We want to go to Las Vegas again to party, so that’s why we want to win a championship again,” Jokic said via Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints via X (formerly known as Twitter).

When the Denver Nuggets won their first championship in franchise history last season, celebrations were epic. During the championship parade, they joked about head coach Michael Malone being the Los Angeles Lakers’ “daddy” and there were iconic moments of Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and Bruce Brown getting drunk.

The Denver Nuggets are set to meet the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round

The Denver Nuggets will see a familiar foe in the first round, as they will take on the Los Angeles Lakers, who earned the seventh seed after beating the New Orleans Pelicans in the play-in on Tuesday.

Nikola Jokic and co. have won their last seven games against the Los Angeles Lakers, as they went 3-0 in their regular-season encounters and 4-0 when they faced off in the Western Conference Finals last year.

However, despite this, the Serbian center says that the Denver Nuggets aren’t taking the Los Angeles Lakers lightly.

“It wasn’t easy sweeping them last year,” Jokic said. “And this time, there’s no favorite. It can go both ways.”

The Denver Nuggets finished the regular season as the second seed despite having an identical 57-25 record with the Oklahoma City Thunder due to tiebreakers, with the latter beating the former three times in the regular season.
