Nikola Jokic is once again in the MVP conversation after winning the said award twice already. But if the Denver Nuggets All-Star center had his way, there’ll be less talk from everybody about who wins the MVP this year.
Jokic’s opinion on the matter came after Denver handled their business against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a 116-107 win. In that game, the Joker went off by tallying 41 points on 80 percent shooting from the field, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. Jamal Murray made 20 points, four rebounds, and six assists, while Michael Porter Jr. added 18 points of his own.
The Timberwolves had Anthony Edwards lead the way as the All-Star shooting guard notched 25 points, two rebounds, and four assists. Mike Conley posted 19 points, while Rudy Gobert ended the night with a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds.
The game between these two powerhouses helped decide who stayed on the top of the Western Conference. By the end of it all, Denver captured the top seed and Minnesota being forced into a tie with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the second spot. With only a couple of games left in the regular season, there’s still a chance for this order to change.
Denver Nuggets Star Nikola Jokic Gets Real on Out-of-Control MVP Race
After the game, Jokic spoke to reporters and admitted how he felt about the current MVP race. In a tweet by Harrison Wind on X:

“I think the whole MVP conversation is getting out of control.” “I think I’m playing good basketball…I think a couple guys deserve to have the award,” Wind tweeted.
As it stands, the MVP race this year is thinning down to Jokic, OKC’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic. All three players each have their strong arguments to win the award but it isn’t known at this point who’s leading the pack.
Fans will soon know this year’s MVP, along with other accolades for the season. Whether it’s Jokic, Gilgeous-Alexander, or Doncic, there’ll be a lot of back and forth in the coming days about who won the said award.
