The Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves are tied 1-1 in their playoff series. In Game 1, Minnesota dominated from start to finish, pouring in 21 three-pointers on their way to a 117-95 victory at Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers responded in Game 2, with a 94-85 win, thanks to Luka Doncic’s 31 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists and a strong defensive showing that held Minnesota to 5-of-28 shooting.
As the Timberwolves prepare to host the Lakers in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series on Friday, global music icon Drake has made his allegiance clear—and it's not with Los Angeles.
On Friday, Drake shared a screenshot on his Instagram Stories revealing a $620,000 bet on the Timberwolves to win Game 3.
Accompanying the image posted by the rap superstar was a succinct message directed at Minnesota's All-Star guard, Anthony Edwards: "Lemme see sum real quick Ant.”
This move comes amid a backdrop of tension between Drake and Lakers' star LeBron James. The two, once close friends, have experienced a perceived falling out. In January, Drake released a freestyle titled "Fighting Irish," which many interpreted as a veiled critique of James.
The title references James' high school team, and the lyrics suggest feelings of betrayal and disloyalty. The rift reportedly deepened after James attended Kendrick Lamar's "Pop Out" concert in June 2024, where Lamar performed diss tracks aimed at Drake.
Game 3 is scheduled to tip off tonight at 6:30 PM PDT at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Friday,
