USC Trojans' top ranked college basketball recruit in recent years Alijah Arenas, a five-star recruit and Gilbert Arenas' son, has recently been battling a car accident that landed him an induced coma.
His dad said that he was trapped in the car for 10-12 minutes before being saved from the Tesla Cybertruck that caught fire, and was placed in the coma more for precautionary purposes due to the amount of smoke he inhaled.
On the Dan Patrick Show, the NBA legend appeared and discussed everything that happened, and said his son will still be attending USC this year and had an incredible sense of humor after waking up from the coma.
When he woke up and learned he was at UCLA hospital, he said "tell Muss I'm sorry that I'm at UCLA," referring to his future head coach.
A subtle jab from Arenas immediately after waking up shows he is ready to compete for the Trojans as soon as possible. Thankfully, his recovery is going well and sustained no injuries from the accident.
Arenas has since been released from UCLA hospital, and surely he is happy getting out of enemy territory and in good health.
The ex-NBA superstar said there were angels over him during the crash and was lucky to avoid any sort of injury, as well as be okay after inhaling smoke for almost 12 minutes.
Excitement around Arenas joining the Trojans will get back to normal now, and leads a top ten recruiting class with some incredible transfers like former Auburn Tigers Chad Baker-Mazara.
With a lot of hope and promise, USC will be one of the top teams to watch in the country next season as they hope to make a splash, and an NCAA Tournament berth.
