Five-time All-Star would 'love' to join Suns, reunite with former teammate

Free agent point guard John Wall said this week that he'd "love" to reunite with former longtime teammate Bradley Beal and join the Phoenix Suns.

Wall discussed that topic and more on Thursday's episode of "Run It Back" on FanDuel TV.

The 2010 first overall pick spent last season with the Los Angeles Clippers, playing 34 games and making three starts while averaging career lows across the board in points (11.4), assists (5.2), rebounds (2.7), steals (0.8), blocks (0.4) and minutes (22.2) per contest. Wall posted a career-worst 40.8 field goal percentage, career-low 68.1 free throw percentage and 30.3 three-point field goal percentage as well and was traded back to the Houston Rockets (where he played 40 games in 2021) in February.

The University of Kentucky product was waived by Houston three days after the trade.

Wall held a private workout for multiple teams in July in Las Vegas. Among the groups in attendance were the Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers, but no deal came out of the session.

The five-time All-Star was selected by the Washington Wizards with the No. 1 pick 13 years ago and called the nation's capital his home for nine seasons from 2010-2020. Wall was traded with a 2023 first-round draft pick to the Rockets in December 2020 in exchange for Russell Westbrook.

Beal was picked by the Wizards with the third overall selection during the 2012 NBA Draft and played 11 seasons with the organization prior to his trade to the Suns in June. Beal made three All-Star teams with Washington, all between 2017-2021.

The Wizards made four playoff appearances during the eight seasons Beal and Wall shared the backcourt but never made it past the second round.

Beal is joined by point guard Devin Booker, small forward Josh Okogie, power forward Kevin Durant and center Jusuf Nurkic in the Suns' projected starting lineup. The University of Florida product has yet to make his Phoenix debut though due to a back injury.
