Stephen A. Smith raises concerns over Bradley Beal's availability

Bradley Beal was traded to the Phoenix Suns this summer. His addition has created a new Big Three with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. The St. Louis native is yet to make his debut for his new team due to a back injury. Missing games isn't something new for Beal. He's missed at least 30 games in each of the last two seasons.

Speaking on a recent episode of ESPN's "First Take," Stephen A. Smith shared his concerns regarding Beal's availability.

"I'm a big Bradley Beal fan, but since 2019, he's missed about 105 of the last 312 games. He missed about 32 games last year. He's only played about 90 games in the last two seasons. And now, they're talking about back injuries, and they don't know when he'll be back. I'm starting to get really, really concerned. I need to see this guy on the court."

The Suns knew Beal had struggled with injuries in recent years. The risks were clear when they made the trade. However, in the search for a championship, the allure of another high-scoring ball-handler became too much of a temptation. Still, it's worth remembering that the season is less than two weeks old. Taking a cautious approach to Beal's health could pay dividends down the road.

The Suns' lack of bench depth is also a concern. It's amplifying the worry surrounding Beal's absence. Without all of their Big Three on the court, it's hard to envision them achieving the success they're aiming for.

Beal is an All-NBA talent when healthy. Taking the time to ensure his injury issues don't linger through the season is a wise choice. However, until he makes his debut and strings together a run of games, the franchise will be under a microscope.
