The Timberwolves have long been rumored to have interest in John Collins and Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer has some details on what Atlanta’s asking price was in negotiations between the two sides.

Atlanta reportedly wanted Malik Beasley and a first-round pick for the Collins, though the Wolves weren’t interested in that proposal. Beasley is currently in the midst of serving a 12-game suspension (pleaded guilty to a felony), though he is expected to return by the end of March.

Collins will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season and there’s some uncertainty around how much the Hawks are willing to spend to bring him back. Atlanta spent heavily on Danilo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic during the offseason and that, along with Clint Capela‘s presence on the roster, makes Collins expendable. However, the team has indicated that it won’t simply allow Collins to walk away for nothing.

Collins was the No. 19 overall pick in the 2017 draft out of Wake Forest. Through 218 games in Atlanta, he’s has a career scoring average of 16.6 points per game while making 56.4% of his overall looks and 37.1% of his threes.
