Heat, Lakers combine to make NBA history with playoff wins

The Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat combined to make NBA history on Monday night with their playoff wins over the Memphis Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks, respectively.

Despite the return of two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo for Game 4, the Bucks choked away a late double-digit lead on the road, as Jimmy Butler went nuclear in a legendary performance, dropping a career high 56 points.

Game 5 is set for Wednesday night in Milwaukee and a possible Game 6 would be on Friday back in Miami.

The Heat are looking to become only the sixth No. 8 seed since the postseason field expanded to 16 teams to knock off a No. 1 seed and the first since the Philadelphia 76ers did it to the Chicago Bulls in 2012. If Miami is able to eliminate Milwaukee in Game 5, they'd become the first No. 8 seed in history to hold a No. 1 seed to just one win in a series.

Behind the heroics of LeBron James, the seventh-seeded Lakers took a commanding 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven series against the second-seeded Grizzlies with an overtime win on Monday night.

Game 5 will be on Wednesday night in Memphis with a possible Game 6 on Friday in Los Angeles.

Both the Bucks and Grizzlies are facing a serious uphill battle to overcome their deficits. NBA teams have come back from 3-1 holes only 13 times in league history (nine times since 1984), with the last two occurring in 2020, as the Denver Nuggets accomplished the feat in back-to-back series against the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers.
