D'Angelo Russell hadn't hit a three all night. With the Lakers down seven, he hit three in 60 seconds.

Russell's personal 9-0 run put the Lakers up 99-97, at a point where they looked like Memphis might blow them out. Those were Russell's only three triples of the night, and three of only ten the Lakers made in 53 minutes.
After the game, LeBron James gave Russell credit for stepping up when their offense was "stalling out."
“Without DLo, in that 4th quarter, when the game was kinda stalling out… DLo hit back to back 3’s.. gave us a opportunity.”

Technically, Russell hit back-to-back-to-back threes, but it really was a game-saving hot streak from a team that didn't make a single triple for the first 11:47 of the third quarter.
And after Russell's last three with 3:55 remaining in the 4th quarter, no one else made one until Luke Kennard's meaningless three with 2.1 seconds remaining in overtime.
Russell was drafted No. 2 overall by the Lakers in 2015, then traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2017. Six years and two teams later, he's back with the Lakers and he's a huge part of their team.
He's still only 27. As hard as that would have been to believe six years ago, Lakers fans might be watching Russell drain playoff threes for years to come.
