Houston Rockets fans fear the worst for Alperen Sengun after the big man suffered a scary-looking injury during Sunday’s showdown against the Sacramento Kings.

While Sengun will still have to undergo more tests to determine the severity of the injury, the Rockets faithful couldn’t help but think his season might be over as a result of the issue.

What Happened To Houston Rockets’ Alperen Sengun?

For those who missed it, late in the fourth quarter of their showdown against the Kings, Sengun attempted to block a Domantas Sabonis shot. As he was falling, however, Sengun landed awkwardly with his right knee taking the brunt of the force.

Based on video replays, his knee seemed to buckle up backwards due to the impact of the fall. He also seemed to hurt his ankle while falling down. The Turkey international had to be wheelchaired off the floor, sparking more concerns about the seriousness of the injury.

Head coach Ime Udoka didn’t provide much details on Sengun’s injury in his presser following their 112-104 win, as reporter Vanessa Richardson relayed. Udoka said he doesn’t want to speculate and that they will wait for the X-ray results on Sengun’s right knee.

Additional updates revealed that Sengun will undergo an MRI on both his right knee and ankle on Monday, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. With that said, more details about his status moving forward are expected to come after that.

Houston Rockets Fans Scared for Alperen Sengun

In the wake of the concerning development, Houston Rockets fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their worries about the 21-year-old rising star.

There’s no denying that Alperen Sengun is the Rockets’ best player, and now, they are facing the real possibility of losing him for the remainder of the season.

It might be too premature to assume anything, but it’s hard to blame the Houston faithful for being really concerned.

“Alperen Sengun going down with a possible season-ending injury really kills the momentum the Rockets were building. 4-1 in March and just 4.5 games back from a play-in spot. It also means we’ll be deprived of a Sengun vs. Wemby rematch. Sucks on multiple levels,” one fan wrote.

Another concerned supporter said, “Looks like season ending injury for Alperen Sengun.”

“Awful moment for Alperen Sengun as he is taken off in a wheelchair. Hoping the best for him, but the injury didn’t look good, intimated it was his knee and ankle,” X account SportsTalk 970 added.

A fourth commenter said, “Prayers up to Alperen Sengun. Man was having a phenomenal season. Just a brutal injury.”

Hopefully, Sengun’s injury isn’t as serious as it looked. For now, Rockets fans can only stay patient and really pray for the best.
