Riley Gaines gave her nod of agreement to the bold statement of former NBA star and now analyst Charles Barkley against transathletes playing against women in sports.
In a post on X, RIley Gaines expressed her agreement and support for NBA analyst CHarles Barkley and his bodl statement on his stance on transgenders playing against women in sports.
“It’s really been this simple the whole time. It requires zero explanation,” Gaines said in his post. “More sports anchors and professional athletes should follow suit. That’s when this stops being controversial.”
In a recent podcast he gusted in, Barkley made a strong statement on his stance on the issue of transgenders playing against women in sports.
“I do not under any circumstances, zero, think that men should play sports against women,” Barkley said. “I’m done. I don’t wanna hear you try to explain it to me.”
Riley Gaines has emerged as one of the most outspoken critics of transgender athletes competing in women’s sports, arguing that their inclusion undermines fairness and integrity in female athletics. Gaines gained national attention after tying for fifth place against Lia Thomas, a transgender athlete, at the 2022 NCAA Championships.
Since then, she has actively campaigned for policies that restrict transgender participation in women’s sports, claiming that biological differences create an unequal playing field.
In March 2024, Gaines joined a lawsuit demanding that the NCAA revoke titles, trophies, and records won by transgender athletes in women’s competitions, arguing that the organization is violating Title IX protections.
Despite the backlash, Gaines continues to push for policy changes, frequently appearing on conservative media outlets and partnering with advocacy groups that oppose transgender inclusion in female sports.
Riley Gaines’ Speaking Event at the University of Washington Draws Protesters
Former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines faced opposition during her speaking event at the University of Washington, where protesters gathered to challenge her stance on transgender athletes in women’s sports.
The demonstration followed a chaotic protest the previous night, where 30 students broke into an engineering building, causing $1 million in damages. Unlike the earlier incident, Gaines’ event remained peaceful, with counterprotesters assembling at the Ethnic Cultural Center to advocate for gender-affirming care and equal rights.
Security was heightened at the event, with officers from both UW and the Seattle Police Department forming a barrier around the venue to prevent disruptions. Among the protesters was a transgender athlete from UW’s women’s rowing team, who expressed frustration over the exclusion of trans voices in these discussions.
Despite the protests, Riley Gaines remains committed to her message, engaging in discussions that shape the ongoing debate over gender and athletic eligibility.
