Jimmy Butler spoke about his new braids on media day and explained the funny reason behind his decision.

With the new season on the horizon, it seems like fans can properly start looking forward to it now that media day is here. Stars and coaches from every team have been discussing their upcoming campaigns and answering questions from the media. And boy, are there a lot of questions, not the least of which has been answered by Kevin Durant, who was at the center of major offseason drama.

And much is going on in Miami as well, although all of it is nowhere near as serious as what the Nets stars are addressing. Jimmy Butler remains the centerpiece of the team, a contending roster that is hoping to make it back to the NBA Finals this season. And while there's a lot to discuss on the NBA side of things, the main questions aimed at Jimmy had pretty much nothing to do with basketball.

Jimmy Butler Said He Got His New Hairstyle To Make The Internet Mad

Butler got a new hairstyle over the summer. He's always kept his hair closely cropped and sported some facial hair, but he's decided to switch it up now. The Heat star got braids, something that NBA fans have been trolling him for since he first sported it. And after being asked about it, Butler gave some answers to the many that are wondering about the reason behind this change.

"I don't have any extensions, I don't know what you're talking about. Uh, I don't know. It's still up for debate if I'm gonna keep my hair like this, they're not extensions. Who knows? I'm gonna try out a lot of new looks. Y'all like my baby-faced assassin look? Kinda cute, isn't it? I really don't know, I haven't even thought about it. I'm just messing with stuff to make the internet mad. That was my goal this summer and it worked."

Considering that NBA fans are obsessed with the hairstyles of their favorite stars, it's not surprising that this is how Butler chose to cause a bit of a stir. LeBron James can attest to how obsessed people can get, his new bald look drew tons of comments from fans of the league

Jimmy might be one to joke around before the season starts, but he'll be locked in once it's time to get down to business. The Heat lost heartbreakingly in the Eastern Conference Finals last season, and they'll be hoping to change that next season. Despite not making major acquisitions, they have every chance of making it happen.
