The Sacramento Kings have had to play eight games without star point guard De'Aaron Fox this season, going 4-4 in that span. While the Kings have held strong while Fox is sidelined, having their game-changing point guard back on the court for a late-season push is necessary.
Fox has missed two consecutive games with a lingering left knee contusion, but his latest comments give fans hope for a speedy recovery. After practicing on Sunday, Fox spoke to the media, providing an injury update (via @SeanCunningham | X):
"I feel better. I was able to practice today, so optimistic about tomorrow, for sure. I went through the whole practice today. ...[My knee] was swollen a bit. It's like if I was standing for a period of time then it was hard to sit down, or if I was sitting down for a period of time then when I stood up it was sore. It was pain tolerance but, also, it'd be smart if I can't go out there to help my team then I wouldn't play."
After picking up a statement road win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday without Fox, the Kings proved they can still play at a high level without their star guard. With 23 games left in the regular season, every win matters for Sacramento. As the Kings fight to avoid the Play-In Tournament, they need Fox back on the court.
The Kings host the Chicago Bulls on Monday as Fox aims to return to action.
