There is something about the Bryant name and Staples Center/Crypto.com Arena that brings out the best in them.

NBA and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant gave his all for the city of LA and played his best under the bright lights of the then-Staples Center.

His nephew, who recently played at Crypto.com Arena, is a high school sophomore from Bishop Gorman named Jett Washington. The next Bryant generation channeled his inner Mamba and dropped 33 points on Saturday. Washington went off, but his team fell short in an overtime loss to San Francisco Riordan in the Coastal Catholic Classic showcase event.

Washington, the son of Kobe's sister, spoke to LA Times columnist Eric Sondheimer and said what it meant to him to play in the same arena as his uncle.

“It means a lot playing in the house he built and playing where he played,” Washington said.

Washington stands at 6'5" and is a two-sport athlete. He also plays safety for Bishop Gorman, leading them to an unbeaten record, and he showed he can also put the ball through the hoop.

As a sophomore, Washington is a four-star athlete, the number 12 player in his position, and the number one player in the state of Nevada for football, according to 247Sports

He's already received offers from Nebraska, Washington, Arizona, and Georgia, to name a few. This kid is talented, and no matter what sport he sticks with, you know he will do well no matter what.
