Lakers silence Dillon Brooks' trash talk again

Dillon Brooks had a lot to say after the Grizzlies' Game 2 win. Monday, he skipped his press conference for the second straight game.

Brooks bragged about his disrespect for LeBron James, after Memphis won Game 2, saying "He old." Then Brooks got ejected early in the second half for striking James below the belt. At the time of his ejection, Brooks was shooting 3-13.

Monday, Brooks scored 11 points and shot 1-7 from three-point range. Since telling reporters that "I don't respect no one until they come and give me 40," James has come and given Brooks 25 points and nine rebounds in Game 3, and 22 points and 20 rebounds in Game 4. Meanwhile, Brooks has shot 7-24, 2-12 from three-point range, with two turnovers, seven personal fouls and a flagrant two.

When the Grizzlies needed a stop with six seconds left in regulation, it wasn't Brooks guarding James - it was Xavier Tillman. Brooks was guarding James - and fouling him - on his OT layup that iced the game.

While he wouldn't talk to reporters after the games, Brooks did complain to ESPN's Tim MacMahon on Sunday, blaming the media for his flagrant 2 ejection.

Perhaps he's thinking of the ESPN piece titled "Dillon Brooks wants you to stay mad," where Brooks said of his opponents, "I want them to be angry, off-kilter emotionally" and said that he had "four, maybe five friends" in the NBA. Brooks clearly has sought out the media attention all season - except after these last two losses.

The main reason Brooks got a flagrant two for hitting James was that it's the second time he's hit an opponent below the belt this year.

The fans and the media didn't make Brooks take cheap shots. Brooks doesn't sound like a victim of the media. He sounds like he doesn't want to answer questions about what he said to the media two games ago.
