Latrell Sprewell made headlines when he showed up sitting next to James Dolan at the Madison Square Garden. Now he’s making news on a different front as one of the latest to sign with Ice Cube’s BIG3 league set to kick off this summer.

“The BIG3, the highly anticipated 3-on-3 professional basketball league, announced today Latrell Sprewell, J.R. Rider, Earl Boykins, Brian Cook and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf as the latest signings to its Draft player pool,” per the league’s website.

This new league, which will be hitting courts around the nation this summer, had already signed Kenny Anderson, Smush Parker, Jamario Moon, Ruben Patterson, and Etan Thomas before this week and will continue to unveil its lineup each Monday leading up to its inaugural draft.

A combine will take place in April and eight teams will be assembled, with five players per team in this 3-on-3 league.

It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of reception the games will get when they start taking place this summer. While we have no doubt the players can still ball, it remains to be seen if it will lead to the intended outcome, which is profits and continued, building interest.
