LeBron James allowed a rare inside look into his family life by admitting he recently apologized to his wife over the hardships she has endured during his “journey” to become the “greatest to ever play this game.”

James cut open a vein and discussed wife Savannah during a podcast from his “Uninterrupted” multimedia network. The show, “Road Trippin’,” is hosted by Cleveland Cavaliers teammates Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson alongside Cavaliers sideline reporter Allie Clifton.

“I am addicted to the process. I’m addicted to the process,” James said on the podcast, available on iTunes. “It’s so funny. I just told my wife the other day, I apologized to her. She was like ‘What are you apologizing for?’ I said ‘Because the journey that I’m on to want to be the greatest to ever play this game or to the point where no one ever forgets what I accomplished, I’ve at times lost the fact of how important you are to this whole thing. … I want you to understand that along this journey while I’m playing this game there will be times that I lose the fact of how important you and my three kids are – my babies are.’”

James and wife Savannah of course were high school sweethearts, so she’s been along for the superstar’s entire basketball ride. The couple married on Dec. 31, 2011 and are the parents to three children: LeBron James Jr., Bryce Maximus James and Zhuri James.

Other highlights from the podcast, among other interesting nuggets, include James’ admitting he wept when watching “The Lion King” and a particular episode of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” (“Real men cry,” James says).

But the most enlightening details to glean from James' candid comments  are his devotion to his wife and how much he appreciates the many  sacrifices she has made so he can pursue his "journey."
