LeBron James: I think it's 'pretty damn cool' to be part-owner of Red Sox

It was announced Tuesday that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is joining Fenway Sports Group as a partner, giving him an ownership stake in the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool, Roush Fenway Racing and regional sports network NESN. James already owned 2% of Liverpool.

The four-time NBA champion was asked about his thoughts on becoming part-owner of the Red Sox and admitted he thinks "it's pretty damn cool" to be the first Black partner at Fenway Sports Group.

FSG was founded in 2001 is among the world's largest ownership entities.

The company has worked with James for more than a decade and now he'll be much more involved moving forward. In 2019, FSG changed Liverpool's uniform sponsorship to Nike, where James is a signature athlete.

The Boston Red Sox are valued at $3.3 billion and FSG is valued at $6.6 billion, per Forbes.
