LeBron James recently became a part-owner of the Boston Red Sox, one of the most famous and successful teams in Major League Baseball. He had already bought a share of Liverpool FC, and he doesn't appear to be done.

James has stated in the past that he wants to own an NBA team in the future and he doubled down on those comments after the Lakers’ 137-121 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night. Via Indiana Express:

“My goal is to own a team, own an NBA team,” he said after the game.

“I got so much to give to the game, I know what it takes to win at this level, I know talent and I also know how to run a business as well. So that is my goal. My goal is to own a NBA franchise, and you know it’ll be sooner than later.”

James appears to be very happy with his decision to take a stake in the Boston-based Fenway Sports Group (FSG).

“For me, and for my partner Maverick (Carter), to be the first two black men to be a part of that ownership group, in the history of that franchise, I think it’s pretty damn cool,” said James.

“It gives me and people that look like me, you know, hope and inspiration that they can be in a position like that as well, that it can be done. It gives my kids at my primary school more and more inspiration as well.

“It’s a pretty amazing thing and for me to continue to build my Portfolio off the floor also in a beautiful game like baseball.”

James is one of the most successful and honored players in the NBA and he’s also one of the most successful businessmen in the league.

Michael Jordan became the first former player to own a team when he bought the Charlotte Hornets in 2010. LeBron certainly could be the next.
