LeBron James' business manager, Maverick Carter, has spoken with federal agents regarding his involvement with illicit betting on NBA games, per ESPN

With regards to specifics, Carter allegedly "could not remember placing any bets on the Lakers," which is a big component of how this situation will be evaluated.

In general, however, the NBA "prohibits players, team officials, and league officials from betting on league games."

Agents are also included in the rule, but given that Carter is technically the Los Angeles forward’s business manager (Rich Paul is his agent), he would be exempt from the policy.

Carter reportedly placed nearly two dozen bets on football and basketball games in a 1-year span, with each bet size ranging from $5,000 to $10,000.

It's unlikely Carter faces any kind of punishment given that business managers are an exception to the NBA's policy, but it's also possible that the NBA launches an investigation into Carter's sports book, as other key individuals could be involved, potentially violating the league's code of conduct in the process.
