Lonzo Ball has been out since mid-January due to a knee injury, and he doesn’t seem like he will be back during the regular season.
Ball has a small meniscus tear in his left knee. As of Jan. 28, we were told he would be out about 6-8 weeks. But it’s been nearly two months, and now his rehab is going in the wrong direction.
Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan said Monday that Ball will not do any running for 10 more days and instead will focus on strengthening his knee.
That’s unfortunate for Ball and the Bulls.
Lonzo is in his first season in Chicago and was having a nice season. He’s averaged 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.9 blocks per game.
The Bulls were playing well for a stretch in February, but things have changed recently. They’re only 2-8 in their last 10 games and probably could use some reserves.
