There’s no question LeBron James has almost done it all during his stellar career in the NBA. But among all of the achievements under his name, there’s one disappointment that still stings the Los Angeles Lakers star to this very day.

Over the course of his 20-year run in the league, James has risen to the top by winning countless accolades and breaking numerous records. Even in his first season as the Cleveland Cavaliers’ number one pick in 2003, the King averaged 20.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, numbers most players during that time didn’t have.

James’ career took a turn when he signed with the Miami Heat in 2010 and subsequently won a pair of rings with a core of Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. He would later return to Cleveland and make good on his promise of winning the franchise its first championship in 2016.

Later on, James signed with the Lakers and delivered the franchise another ring when he led the team to a championship inside the Bubble in Orlando. Since then, the King broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record and became the league’s all-time leading scorer recently.

Los Angeles Lakers Star LeBron James Gets Real About Not Winning Defensive Player of the Year in 2013

Of all the accolades James has won in his career, there’s one that still stings the All-Star forward to this day. In a video shared by The Shop on X:

Back in 2013, Marc Gasol won the Defensive Player of the Year while playing for the Memphis Grizzlies over James when he was playing for the Miami Heat. To this day, this particular award has eluded the King since then.

With James approaching the tail-end of his legendary career, there’s little chance he can still win Defensive Player of the Year. Even if that’s the case, the Lakers has achieved so much more, cementing his status as one of the greatest ever to play the game.
