Stop us if you've heard this before: Luka Doncic has made more NBA history.
It's something the Dallas Mavericks superstar has seemingly done on a nightly basis this season, and his latest bit of history happened on Saturday night in San Fransisco, as Dallas defeated the Golden State Warriors, 132-122.
Doncic finished with 39 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists while shooting 14-29 overall, 5-13 from deep and 6-7 from the free-throw line in 38 minutes of action. He also played some sound defense throughout the night as well, something he's improved tremendously this season.
In December, Doncic averaged 37.5 points, 8.9 rebounds and 11.1 assists while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep through 13 games to end 2023. He became just the second player in NBA history to average at least 35 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists through a month while playing a minimum of 10 games. The only other player to accomplish such a feat was NBA legend Oscar Robertson, who did so in 1960.
Despite the Mavs having several key injuries, including Kyrie Irving missing 12 consecutive games to a heel contusion, Doncic has navigated his team to a 19-14 record and sixth-place standing in the West heading into the new year. The MVP candidate has yet to reach his peak, but December showed us all glimpses of what that peak could look like going forward.
