NBA releases COVID-19 PSA with legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

While NBA players aren't the first in line to get the COVID-19 vaccine, they'll have the opportunity to get vaccinated at some point in the near future. With that in mind, the league released a public service announcement regarding the vaccine.

Hall of Famer and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar announced that he will be taking the coronavirus vaccine and is encouraging his peers to do the same.

It's unclear which players will decide to get the vaccine. However, Detroit Pistons star Blake Griffin became the first active player to publicly promote the vaccine as part of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer's duty to educate citizens on the vaccine's safety.

The NBA already has had to postpone several games this season due to COVID-19 issues. If every player got vaccinated, it would help eliminate the spread of the virus across the league. However, every player probably won't be vaccinated unless the NBA makes it mandatory.

Only health care professionals, emergency service workers and people in long-term care facilities are currently eligible to get the vaccine, per the CDC.
