Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Clippers star Lou Williams ran afoul of the NBA’s coronavirus-prevention protocol by paying a visit last week to an Atlanta gentlemen’s club while in town for a funeral during an excused absence from the league’s Orlando bubble. Williams claimed he was at the establishment solely to pick up some dinner.

In light of Williams’ assertion that he was at Magic City only for its popular chicken wings, Chris Kirschner, the Atlanta Hawks beat reporter for The Athletic, paid a visit to the establishment this week to investigate.

Along with a story and a favorable review of the club’s lemon pepper wings, Kirschner provided photographic evidence that the club’s chicken wings do indeed appear to be an appetizing dining option.

Williams grew up in Atlanta and played for the hometown Hawks from 2012-14. Just last year, Williams touted the quality of Magic City’s chicken wings on Twitter and even has a menu item named in his honor at the gentlemen’s club.

It also merits noting that NFL flameout Johnny Manziel recently hailed Magic City’s chicken wings as the best he’s ever had.

As things stand due to his unexcused outing, the NBA placed Williams in a 10-day quarantine. With a final day of the mandatory quarantine coming on Aug. 3, the Clippers veteran and three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner will miss the team’s opening game against the Lakers on July 30, as well as a Aug. 1 showdown with the New Orleans Pelicans at a minimum.
