Nets' Seth Curry has ankle surgery, should be good for training camp

Guard Seth Curry joined the Brooklyn Nets from the Philadelphia 76ers in February via the trade that included Ben Simmons also joining the Nets and James Harden heading to the 76ers. Ryan Morik of SNY noted that Curry missed some time before the postseason due to an injured ankle.

It appears that issue may have been worse than some realized.

On Monday, the Nets confirmed that Curry underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle at the Hospital for Special Surgery. The team added that it's expected Curry will be fully recovered before training camp sessions begin.

Per Spotrac, Curry is under contract for next season and will ideally be a key contributor for what should be viewed as a championship contender even though Brooklyn was swept out of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics last month. The 31-year-old performed well in those playoff contests despite the team's lack of success and, according to ESPN stats, averaged 14.5 points per game in the series. Curry shot an impressive 56.4% from the field and 52.2% from three-point range against Boston.

It remains unclear how Simmons' potential presence in the lineup could impact Curry's role with the club.
