Ben Simmons' season from hell is officially over. Not only are his current employers — the Brooklyn Nets — over one week removed from being swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics, but he officially underwent back surgery on Thursday.
Now, according to the team's most recent medical update on the three-time All-Star, Simmons is slated to embark on his latest potential journey back to NBA action.

If the unconventional Australian point guard is eventually able to make it back onto the hardwood for a meaningful NBA contest in the fall, it'll still have been well over one year since Simmons showed up in the scorer's book. He last played on June 20, 2021 when he was with the Philadelphia 76ers and largely disappeared on offense during Game 7 of the team's stunning second-round playoff exit against the Atlanta Hawks.
Simmons was traded to the Nets in February as a part of a blockbuster deal that landed the Sixers former MVP James Harden.
