Nine more NBA players test positive for coronavirus

A new round of testing has found that nine more NBA players tested positive with less than a month to go before the season is set to resume in Orlando. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the latest round of testing results on Twitter.

"In tests of 344 players between June 24-29, nine more players have tested positive for the coronavirus," Woj tweeted. The names of the players was not revealed.

There has been increased concern over whether the NBA should even try to resume its season in the midst of a global pandemic. Damian Lillard expressed doubts about players following safety protocol in Orlando, while multiple players have opted out of the season due to safety concerns, including the Lakers' Avery Bradley.

According to a joint statement from the NBA and NBPA, the NBA has tested 351 players since June 23 and 25 players have tested positive for coronavirus. Nikola Jokic and Spencer Dinwiddie have been among those players who have been confirmed as testing positive but are hoping to have recovered by July 30, which is the starting date for the new season.

Of the 30 NBA teams, 22 have been invited to participate in the resumption of the season in Orlando. However, with daily cases reaching an all-time high in Florida this week, there are some who believe this plan is no longer safe or practical. Though NBA commissioner Adam Silver has said that the plan is still in place unless we see "a large number of cases and see spread in our community."
