Pistons HC Monty Williams drops epic one-liner about two new draft picks

It seems Detroit Pistons head coach Monty Williams is a big fan of two of the team's rookies after seeing their 2023 NBA Summer League performances. So much so that he's even willing to offer up his daughters' hands in marriage thanks to their stellar play.

While Williams has made his fair share of great one-liners over the years, this one turned plenty of heads. While speaking at this year's summer league, Detroit's new coach raved about draft picks Ausar Thompson and Marcus Sasser while openly stating that their play makes him "want to take them home and arrange a marriage with my daughters," as ClutchPoints revealed.

“Those two guys just made play after play and played winning basketball, which is something that makes me want to take them home and arrange a marriage with my daughters.”

While the comment was completely out of left field, it was funny nonetheless. Thompson specifically has looked impressive during Summer League play and could be a rookie capable of making a fairly big impact right out of the gate next season.

Thompson, who was the No. 5 pick overall, has averaged 13.5 points, 10 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.8 blocks over 29.2 minutes in four games of summer action.

As for Sasser, who was the No. 25 overall pick, he's struggled a bit to get shots to fall, averaging 9.5 points on 32.6 percent shooting. His biggest struggle has come from three-point range, where he's made an average of just 1-of-6.3 attempts per game. Sasser is also shooting 54.5 percent from the free-throw line. He has averaged three assists and 1.3 steals per game while flashing the ability to impact the game in other ways outside of scoring, though.
