Pistons' losing streak continues after blowing huge lead

The 2-28 Detroit Pistons led the Boston Celtics by 21 points Thursday night. Then they remembered they’re the Pistons.

After the Pistons raced to a 66-47 halftime lead, the Celtics’ defense tightened up in the second half. Detroit gave up the entirety of their halftime lead in the third quarter, though they forced overtime and even led with 2:32 remaining.

Cade Cunningham followed up his 41-point effort Tuesday with 32 points Thursday, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Pistons from losing their 28th straight game. The loss dropped them to 2-29 on the season.

Ultimately, the Pistons couldn’t overcome Kristaps Porzingis, who had 35 in the win.

Or Jayson Tatum’s passing, as he racked up 10 assists. But they really couldn’t overcome their inherent “Piston-ness.” This young team clearly has talent. But somehow it keeps finding new ways to lose games.
