One of the main talking points for the Detroit Pistons since the All-Star break has been the play of Cade Cunningham. After etching his name alongside multiple all-time greats last week, he made franchise history against the Charlotte Hornets.

Early on in the matchup with Charlotte, Cunningham reached 1,200 points and 400 assists on the season. By doing so in 54 games, he set a new Pistons record for the fastest to reach these benchmarks. Previously, Thomas held the record at 55 games during the 1984-85 season.

Cunningham ended up leading the charge for the Pistons in a win over the Hornets. In 32 minutes of action, he posted a stat line of 22 points, six rebounds, and eight assists. Other notable performers included Jalen Duren (20 points, 10 rebounds) and Simone Fontecchio (17 points, eight rebounds.) Detroit ended up walking off their home floor with a 114-97 victory.

Cunningham has continued to perform well out of the break, and this piling of accolades is a testament to that. Despite how things went during the first half of the year, the former No. 1 pick is trying to end things on a positive note.

When it comes to Pistons history, Thomas is one of the greatest to ever wear the uniform. For Cunningham to outdo his numbers is an impressive that deserves recognition.

Things looked to be going off the rails for Cunningham after missing most of last season due to injury. However, he's managed to bounce back in a big way this year. Cunningham is showing the Pistons and the rest of the league the potential he has moving forward. For the season, Cunningham's averages sit at 22.6 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 7.5 APG.
