The Toronto Raptors will hit the road a little shorthanded as they head to Atlanta to begin a six-game road trip on Sunday.
The good news for Toronto is Jakob Poeltl appears to be progressing toward a return. He's considered doubtful with a left ankle sprain. It's not a great sign, but it's a step forward after being ruled out for the past two weeks.
Poeltl has progressed to doing on-court activities and was seen working out alongside Toronto's coaching staff on Thursday. He said the ankle feels much better but the medical staff will have to give him the official go-ahead before he returns.
Immanuel Quickley continues to battle a right thigh contusion he suffered against the Memphis Grizzlies. He missed practice on Thursday and did not play Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. He is traveling with the team, though it's a little unclear how long he'll be out with the injury
Jontay Porter is expected to be good to go as he's listed as probable with a left eye injury. He was forced to come out of Friday's game but tests appear to suggest it's not a serious injury.
Expect Scottie Barnes to once again get the start as Toronto's lead point guard. Thad Young filled in for Poeltl and Porter last game with Bruce Brown Jr. joining the starting lineup.
Javon Freeman-Liberty, Kira Lewis Jr., and Markquis Nowell will all be on G League assignments with the Raptors 905 for the next couple of weeks.
