Reigning NBA, WNBA champions grace NBA 2K25 cover

To the victors go the spoils, or in this case, a prized video game cover.

Celtics' Jayson Tatum, the reigning NBA champion, and the Aces' A'ja Wilson, the reigning WNBA champion, will grace the cover of NBA 2K25, the next title in 2K Sports' widely popular series.

It was announced Wednesday that Tatum and Wilson will be the cover athletes of the standard and WNBA editions, respectively, and jointly grace the All-Star edition cover. Furthermore, the legendary Vince Carter will be on the cover of the 2K25 Hall of Fame edition.

According to Tatum, his son, Duece, broke the news on his birthday.

"I was at my mom's house," Tatum told WNBA legend Sue Bird. "Duece ran downstairs with a bag. He was like, 'Daddy, happy birthday.' I opened it and it was 'Congrats, you're on the cover of 2K.' I got teary-eyed. I cried a litte bit. Because I feel like I’m very blessed and fortunate that when I was younger, I had so many dreams and goals and things I wanted to check off. I'm experiencing those things in real time."

As for Wilson, she received a call informing her that she was set to become the first female athlete to jointly grace the NBA 2K cover (after Candace Parker graced the WNBA edition in 2022).

"It was a big moment," Wilson admitted. "As a kid, you just dream of seeing your face in these spaces. And then for it to be real and actually happen... it's like checking off your goal list. It's huge. I'm blessed."

The All-Star edition of the game, priced at $99.99, will give gamers pre-loaded 100,000 VC, MyTEAM content and MyCAREER bonuses. Meanwhile, the Hall of Fame edition, priced at $149.99, will include everything from the All-Star Edition plus a 12-month NBA League Pass subscription. The latter feature will surely be appreciated by hoop fans trying to kill two stones with one stone.
