Report: Celtics plan to waive former No. 2 overall pick Jabari Parker

The Boston Celtics are reportedly planning to end their nine-month relationship with former Duke star Jabari Parker.

Parker was originally selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the second overall pick in 2014 and spent the first four seasons of his career with the organization. The 26-year-old scored a career-high 20.1 points per game and dished out a career-best 2.8 assists per contest, while posting a .490/.365/.743 line during the 2016-2017 campaign.

Parker signed with the Chicago Bulls in July 2018 but was traded with Bobby Portis to the Washington Wizards for Otto Porter in February 2019. The forward appeared in just 38 games (23 starts) between the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings during the 2019-2020 season and was waived by the Kings in March 2021.

The Chicago native originally signed with the Celtics in April 2021 and played 10 games with the team last season. Parker was waived by Boston on Oct. 17, 2021, before being signed again by the organization two days later.

In 12 games this season, Parker has averaged career-lows in points (4.4), rebounds (2.3), assists (0.5) and minutes per game (9.3).
