Report: Celtics were looking for reunion with Avery Bradley

The Boston Celtics signed point guard Jeff Teague to a one-year deal on Saturday, but apparently, he wasn't who they were originally targeting.

According to Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype, the Celtics were interested in a reunion with Avery Bradley. The plan was soiled when the veteran signed a two-year, $11.6 million deal with the Miami Heat.

Heat president Pat Riley and star swingman Jimmy Butler convinced Bradley to join the team, selling him on the culture in Miami.

Bradley, who was drafted by the Celtics, played in Boston from 2010-17. In seven seasons with the club, he averaged 12.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 36.6 percent from deep.

The 29-year-old helped the Celtics to two Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost to the Miami Heat during the 2011-12 season and the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2016-17 campaign.

Boston and Miami weren't the only ones interested in Bradley, however. The Los Angeles Lakers were looking to retain him, while the Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Hornets also pursued him.
