Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Kevin Durant is frustrated with his current team. The Phoenix Suns star’s growing exasperation has reportedly been palpable enough that the team has noticed.

According to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Durant has grown weary of the “underwhelming supporting cast” around him and fellow All-Star Devin Booker.

Woj pointed to the injuries that have sidelined offseason addition Bradley Beal as a big reason behind Durant’s frustration. The sense is that the Suns reportedly have to “win big and win quickly” in order to keep Durant satisfied.

Beal missed 19 of the Suns’ first 22 games this season while dealing with a back injury. When he was finally healthy enough to play again, misfortune struck again as Beal was undercut while taking a three-pointer just three games into his return.

Acquiring Beal cost the Suns what little draft capital they had left after trading for Durant last season. The gamble has left Phoenix with limited options to retool their current roster.

The lack of depth has led to Durant taking on most of the offensive load without Beal. Durant has posted his highest per-game scoring average (30.9 points across 24 games) since the 2013-14 season — the year he won his MVP Award.

Despite KD’s efforts, the Suns sit at .500 entering their Christmas Day matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.
