With less than a week until the start of training camp, the Sacramento Kings are making final touches to the roster. As they gear up for the 2023-24 NBA season, Sacramento looks to build on the momentum from a 48-win year.

Kings insider James Ham of ESPN1320 reports that the Kings are expected to bring in Jaylen Nowell and Jeremy Lamb for training camp.

The Kings currently have 14 rostered players, with three two-ways and four additions brought in for training camp. Nowell and Lamb heading to Sacramento gives the Kings a maximum of 21 players available for camp.

Nowell, 24, is a four-year NBA veteran who has spent his whole career with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The young guard was one of the best free agents left on the market and found himself with a deserving opportunity in Sacramento.

The 6'4" guard is coming off a career-best year, averaging 10.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in just 19.3 minutes per game. The Kings recently brought Nowell in for a workout, so having him join the team for training camp was expected.

Lamb, 31, last spent time with the Kings in April 2022 before failing to find a home for the 2022-23 season. Although Lamb has not touched an NBA court since then, the 10-year veteran should still have some gas in the tank.

As a 6'5" wing, Lamb can find his way on a roster by being a spot-up shooter. Averaging 10.1 points per game on 34% from deep throughout his career proves he can provide on the perimeter.

With off-season additions of G Chris Duarte and G Colby Jones, the Kings do not lack wing depth. Nowell and Lamb will likely not earn a spot on the Kings' opening-day roster, even with one spot that has yet to be filled. The two veterans can still make the most of this opportunity in Sacramento and potentially find a new home elsewhere.
