Report: NBA will conduct PED testing during resumed season in Orlando
The NBA is set to return with a 22-team format at Walt Disney World on July 31, and while a majority of the details have been revealed, small elements still are being ironed out.
The NBA initially suspended drug testing when the season was halted in March due to the coronavirus, but that'll reportedly change once the season resumes, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
As it states in the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, players who test positive for PEDs will be suspended 25 games for the first violation, 55 games for the second violation and are banned for two years for a third violation.
Players can be randomly tested up to four times per season, and the league likely hasn't tested the players that many times due to the pandemic.
However, Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton was suspended in October, without pay, for violating the NBA's policy on PEDs and Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins was suspended a month later for the same thing.
