Richard Jefferson claps back at Paul Pierce following podcast roast

Paul Pierce said Richard Jefferson was "sweet" and "easy" to score on. But Jefferson brought the receipts.

On "The Ticket & The Truth" podcast, co-host Kevin Garnett asked Pierce how he approached various defenders, including former Nets rival Jefferson.

"That's an easy 40," Pierce said. "Every time. Don't talk about him. Career night. Look at the numbers. Numbers don't lie."

Unfortunately for Pierce, Jefferson checked the numbers.

Jefferson started with a dig at Pierce, that reminded everyone of a different time Pierce got roasted.

Jefferson said Pierce was "100 percent better than me," explaining that "Comparing me to him, it's like comparing him to D-Wade. Different stratospheres."

That's a reference to the time Pierce said he was better than Dwyane Wade, and Jalen Rose went point-by-point on live television to explain that, no, he wasn't.

Then Jefferson continued, reminding Pierce that he and the Nets had beat Pierce's Celtics "10 out of 11 times" between 2002 and 2004. That stretch included seven straight playoff victories, one sweep and a Christmas Day blowout "in front of all of America."

"I think your definition of sweet is a little bit different," Jefferson concluded.

For the record, Pierce had exactly one "easy 40" against Jefferson's Nets, scoring 48 points in an overtime win Jefferson's rookie year. Jefferson didn't start, and fouled out in 18 minutes in what was his 13th NBA game.

Of course, Jefferson has one other triumph to point to over Pierce. He still works at ESPN, while Pierce got fired two years ago.
