Sixers star makes cookies go viral while calling out 'casuals'

Tobias Harris has been a scapegoat and trade bait for the 76ers. Tuesday, he got sick of it.

The 12-year veteran is going into the final year of a five-year, $180M contract he signed in 2019. In four of his playoffs with Philly, they've lost in the second round, dropping a Game 7 in three of them. But overall, Harris has shot "damn near" 40% from three (37.3% as a Sixer) and missed no more than ten games a season.

Still, it was odd that he name-dropped Crumbl Cookies, the popular fresh-baked cookie chain. Unless you know that Harris is an ambassador for the Crumbl location in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. And once Harris' comments went viral, the brand took advantage, offering a promotion if Harris wasn't traded this summer.

Was Harris lashing out in frustration, or was he simply driving engagement for his favorite cookie shop, which currently features a Wedding Cake cookie and a Galaxy Brownie? It could be a little of both, though Harris did refrain from saying the Sixers had the "right ingredients" to win a championship.

Besides, the team has made it clear that it would take a lot more than a Crumbl cookie to pry Harris loose — and even a dozen wouldn't do it. When the Cavaliers asked about Harris' availability, the Sixers quoted them a very high price.

That's an All-Star center and the runner-up in the Rookie of the Year vote in 2022. Clearly, that's a half-baked trade idea.

The Phoenix Suns also reportedly asked about Harris, but with Philadelphia's high asking price it's no wonder those negotiations crumbled.

Harris might be slightly overpaid as a basketball player at $39M. But as a cookie ambassador, he's worth every penny.
