Spurs' Jeremy Sochan reveals his status for Friday's preseason game

Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama stole the show in the preseason opener against Oklahoma City, and he'll play his first game alongside an important piece on Friday night.

Forward Jeremy Sochan revealed that he will play in the team's first home preseason game Friday night against the Miami Heat. It will be his first game in nearly nine months, and he made his thoughts on returning to the court quite clear to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express News on Thursday:

The first-round draft pick of the Spurs in 2022 had several injuries in his rookie season, namely dealing with knee pain, and it was one of the reasons he played in only 56 games. He also played in only 12 games from the start of February until the end of the season.

When he was healthy, Sochan averaged more than 11 points per game in 2022-23 and was selected to play in the Rising Stars Game. He also was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

He may not be as prolific as Wembanyama, but Sochan is thought to be a valuable piece to the Spurs moving forward. He'll get to play his first game alongside the team's rookie phenom on Friday against the defending Eastern Conference champions.
