Stephen Curry is expected to represent the Golden State Warriors at the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft Lottery, per Marcus Thompson of The Athletic.

Scheduled to take place Oct. 16, the draft lottery will be an all-virtual affair. Curry, who was selected by Golden State with the No. 7 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, is a no-brainer for the lottery, according to Warriors executive vice president of basketball operations Kirk Lacob.

“If Steph Curry ever came and said, ‘I want to do this. Put me on the lottery dais,’ I think it would be pretty hard to say no,” Lacob said this week on the “Runnin’ Plays” podcast, according to an NBC Sports Bay Area. “He’s a pretty lucky guy. You want somebody who has good luck to be up there representing you.

“We got some ideas as far as lucky tokens as well.”

Despite the Warriors not being one of the 22 teams participating in the NBA restart at the Walt Disney World Resort’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Curry has managed to remain in the NBA news cycle.

Reacting to Donald Trump’s condemnation of NBA players kneeling during the national anthem during the restart, Curry said “you’re probably saying the right thing” if it upsets the president.

Then, when discussing how the Warriors were one of the so-called “Delete Eight” amid the resumption of play, Curry admitted he is suffering from “major FOMO” while watching the competition.

As far as the lottery is concerned, the Warriors are assured a top-five pick. Here’s how their chances break down: No. 1 pick (14%); No. 2 pick (13.4%); No. 3 pick (12.7%); No. 4 pick (12%); No. 5 pick (47.9%).

Lacob recently stated that the Warriors have “a lot of ammo” heading into the offseason, including the top-five pick. Whether the team flips that pick for an established player remains to be seen, but both Lacob and Curry are extremely confident the Warriors will return to contending status next season.
