The Golden State Warriors are one of eight teams that were not invited to the Orlando bubble for the resumed NBA season and superstar point guard Steph Curry admits that when he first started watching the games, he experienced some "major FOMO."
"Obviously, I was happy to see basketball back on TV, but that first week I had major FOMO," Curry told The New York Times. "Once you see Bron and Kawhi and P.G. go at it, and you remember how much fun it is to play in those types of games and that kind of level, you miss it badly."
Curry's feelings are understandable, as he only played five games this season after breaking his hand in October. With Klay Thompson also out for the entire season, the Warriors struggled mightily, ending up with the worst record in the NBA. As a result, the Warriors did not get to go to Orlando. It's surely a strange experience for Curry and many of his teammates, as the Warriors had made it to the NBA finals for five straight years, winning three championships.
And it's not only Warriors players who feel jealous watching teams play in Orlando. Head coach Steve Kerr said that it has been "kind of painful" watching the NBA resume without his team, even though he knows his team will probably benefit from the rest.
"The guys needed a rest," Kerr said on the Bill Simmons podcast. "They just needed to get away. But now that it's going — I talked to Draymond about it — Draymond and I kind of both feel the same way, which is we kind of want to be there. We're missing out."
