Suns star Chris Paul says he could 'miss some time' due to thumb injury

Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul indicated over All-Star weekend that he could miss time when the regular season resumes due to a recent thumb injury.

"We're 48-10, and if [I] do miss some time, I know the guys are going to hold it down," Paul said, via ESPN's Brian Windhorst. "There's always going to be a frustration with injury. My hand surgeon is part of my family now."

As he indicated in his comments, Paul does have a long history of hand injuries and has had multiple surgeries. He had an MRI after injuring his right hand in Wednesday's 124-121 win over the Houston Rockets.

Phoenix has not released the results of the MRI, but Paul was spotted wearing a cast on his hand at All-Star practice in Cleveland on Saturday.

Suns head coach Monty Williams, who is coaching Team LeBron at the All-Star Game, has declined to comment on Paul's status.

The 12-time All-Star is averaging 14.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and league-leading 10.7 assists this season for the Suns, who sit in first place in the Western Conference following a seven-game winning streak. They are 6.5 points ahead of the second-place Golden State Warriors.
