Thunder's Dennis Schroder leaves bubble for birth of child

As had been expected, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroder exited the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex bubble site to join his wife for the birth of the couple's second child.

Per ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Thunder coach Billy Donovan confirmed that Schroder left Monday morning while speaking with reporters.

It's unknown when the 26-year-old viewed as a Sixth Man of the Year candidate will return to the bubble.

As Schroder and other members of the Thunder prepared for the NBA restart in mid-July, he publicly stated that he would take an excused absence for the birth. Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward and Utah Jazz guard Mike Conley also said they'd leave the bubble for childbirths.

Schroder is averaging 18.9 points, 4.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds across 64 appearances. He scored 13 points in OKC's 110-94 win over the Utah Jazz on Saturday.

Per health and safety protocols, Schroder will undergo coronavirus testing while out of the bubble. He will have to quarantine for a to-be-determined period inside the bubble before he can return to team activities.
